Who Was the Oldest Beatle?

Have you ever wondered which Beatle was the oldest of the fab four? I bet you have! After all, the Beatles were one of the most famous and influential bands of all time. Their catchy tunes and cool style inspired generations of musicians.

As probably the biggest Beatles fan EVER, I’ve done lots of research on John, Paul, George, and Ringo. I wanted to find out everything about them, including facts like their birthdays and hometowns. Knowing small details makes me feel closer to my favorite band!

So who was the oldest Beatle? The oldest Beatle was Ringo Starr. He was born Richard Starkey on July 7, 1940 in Liverpool, England. That makes him a Cancer!

The next oldest Beatle was John Lennon. John was born on October 9, 1940, so he was about 3 months younger than Ringo. His star sign was Libra. Can you imagine John and Ringo celebrating their birthdays together in October? How fun would that be!

Paul McCartney, the cute Beatle, came next. Paul’s birthday was June 18, 1942, making him the third eldest. He was born under the sign of Gemini. Lastly, George Harrison was the baby of the band, born on February 25, 1943. He was a Pisces.

So in order from oldest to youngest, the Beatles were:

  1. Ringo Starr
  2. John Lennon
  3. Paul McCartney
  4. George Harrison

An easy way to remember is that the oldest Beatle’s name starts with R and the youngest starts with G!

You might be wondering why Ringo was so much older than George. Well, their age gap was only around 3 years. That may seem like a lot when you’re 12, but when you’re an adult that’s no time at all!

The Beatles didn’t know each other as kids. They met and started the band when they were teenagers. By then, a 3 year age difference wasn’t a big deal. Ringo was only 22 years old when the band first began in 1962!

Can you believe your parents were probably around the same age as the Beatles when they started playing music together? It’s fun to think that young people can have such a huge impact on the world!

Who knows…maybe you and your friends will start a band someday that changes music history. If that happens, remember your pal who first told you about the Fab Four!
